      Edna Hein was born on a farm southwest of Oakdale, Ill., on Oct. 17, 1930, to Denton and Edna Coates. She went home to be with her Lord on Oct. 26, 2004. She attended Oakdale School and graduated from Nashville High School in Nashville, Ill. She came to Billings in September 1949 with two of her brothers, Smoky and Dusty Coates. That's when she met the love of her life, Clarence Hein. They were married on April 8, 1951, in Billings.
      She worked for Holiday Inn East in Billings for 16 years. Edna was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, a member of Billings Friendship Chapter #124 Order of Eastern Star and Bath Zabbia Temple # 21 Daughters of the Nile. Edna did volunteer work for Head Start and was a volunteer for the Scottish Rite Language Clinic, but had to give it up because of health problems.
      Edna's pastime was sewing, especially for her daughter and her grandchildren. She loved to make porcelain dolls and dress them.
      She is survived by a daughter, Candice (Keith) Kolstad; son Dennis (Tracy) Hein; her grandchildren, Kelsey, Kris and Heather Kolstad, Nanie (Tim) Hance, Ronnie Hein, Corey Ercolin; her great-granddaughters, Tammy and Sammantha Hance; a brother, Smokey (Bobbie) Coates of Tucson, Ariz.; sister-in-law Irene Coates; brother-in-law Jim Hutchinson; nieces and nephews.
      Preceding Edna in death was a daughter, Tammy Ray Hein; her parents, Denton and Edna Coates; three brothers, Henry, Denton and Dusty Coates; a sister, Helen Hutchinson.
      Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 328 S. Shiloh Road, Billings, MT 59106; Scottish Rite Language Clinic, 514 14th St. W., Billings, MT 59102; Billings Friendship Chapter #124 OES, Billings, MT 59104.
      Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 328 S. Shiloh Road. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
